Mulheim Motorsports Begins Season With a Runner-Up Finish.
Choosing this year to concentrate on their family owned 410 program Nick Mulheim and the crew made the trip to Lakeville this past Friday hoping to keep the momentum going that they started last year. What they found was that things would be just fine.
After hearing that track officials at Lakeville Speedway had reconfigured the track Nick was cautiously optimistic about what to expect. After going out for hot laps and having a fifth place starting spot in the heat Nick already had an idea that what they did to the track was right. After the very first lap the 38m was sitting in the third position making ground on second. Knowing he was locked into the feature he waited, seeing if the guy in front of him would slip up. This didn’t happen and he finished up in the number three spot using the low side of one and two and the middle of three and four to get around the track.
Once again starting P5 Nick was hungry for his second win in a 410. Following the lead of the row in front of him Nick made it up to third by the first lap and then second on the next lap. After that it was all between Nick and race leader Tim Hunter. At around the half-way mark the Mulheim Motorsports entry finally caught up with the 2h hoping that lapped traffic would be friendlier to him. It however was not to be as the veteran negotiated traffic perfectly keeping Nick chasing. On the final lap of the race the 38m made one last move around the top of three and four but second was the spot he left the track with.
