Momentum for JR Stewart Stopped Abruptly at the Flag Stand This Past Friday.
Looking forward to the second weekend driving for Hammons Motorsports and having two races close to home the 6s was only able to compete one of those nights after heavy contact.
With Ron doing a little better on the pill draw this week JR would have a much better view of the flagstand for the start of the heat race. Starting on the outside of the front row the Hammons Motorsports entry shot out into the early lead of the first lap. Just before the beginning of the second lap the 2m was able to get by leading the rest of the way. Dustin and JR were able to pull away to a big lead from third on back for the rest of the eight laps while running the top side of the track.
With the feature line-up set the white and blue 6s lined up inside of row four ready for his first win of the year. After first trying the middle of the track, and losing a few spots, where it was extremely rough he moved to the very top to get the job done. Five laps in and moving forward contact between JR and another car ending not just his night but the rest of the weekend as well. JR was credited with a 16th place finish.
