POST-RACE QUOTES & NOTES:
Donny Schatz, driver of the No. 15 Armor All/Chevy/ParkerStore/J&J for TSR:
¡§We were happy to be racing this weekend, even though the weather made it difficult. Once our World of Outlaws races were cancelled, we decided to go over to Eldora (Speedway) and compete with the All-Stars to get some track time.
¡§We were okay all night just not at the level where we want to be yet. In qualifying, I could have made a couple of better corners, which would have helped us. The track was back to the old Eldora where you pounded the cushion and passing was pretty difficult. We had plenty of Chevy horsepower getting us around the track. We just didn¡¦t get to the front first. Ricky (Warner, crew chief) and the crew (Shane Bowers, Kyle Sundby and Evan Funk) did a good job trying a lot of different things that will hopefully help us when we come back in late May and in July for the Kings Royal.
¡§Everyone involved with these Tony Stewart Racing teams continues to work together. We¡¦re optimistic that the weather will cooperate so that we can get some World of Outlaws events in and be putting that first Outlaws victory on the board for TSR, Armor All, Chevy and ParkerStore.¡¨
Kraig Kinser, driver of the No. 20 Bass Pro Shops/Chevy/J.D. Byrider Maxim for TSR:
¡§Once we heard that the race at Huset¡¦s had been canceled, we made the decision to wait a little longer before we headed up to Knoxville (Raceway). As it turned out, we made a good decision on the weather and we were able to head over to Eldora (Speedway) to race with the All-Stars.
¡§We¡¦re still working on figuring out our set-ups and combinations and racing at Eldora on Saturday night gave us a chance to try some new things. This season is kind of like starting over for the TSR/Bass Pro Shops team. With the switch to a Maxim chassis and some of the other changes we¡¦ve made for this season, we¡¦re still learning what works and weeding through what doesn¡¦t. Jimmy (Carr, crew chief) and the guys (Steve Swenson and Mike Kuemper) are doing a great job of moving our program along and I know that we¡¦re learning things each time we get on the track.
¡§At Eldora on Saturday, we changed a lot more than we normally would over the course of a race night. Unfortunately, we broke the drive shaft early in the night and that put us behind, especially with not being able to qualify. We changed a lot on the car between the heat and the B-main and by the time we got to that point we had the car pretty good. We just never had the caution that I needed to see in the B-main to get to the front. It wasn¡¦t the way we would¡¦ve like to have seen the night end but we¡¦ll regroup and head back to Knoxville and US 36 (Raceway) this weekend. I¡¦ve not competed at US 36 before and it would be a great place to get our first victory of the season for Bass Pro Shops and Chevy.¡¨
