Black Rock Cancelled For First Time in 2008

Rich Vleck, DUNDEE, NY (May 2, 2008)- The saying: April Showers Bring May Flowers is becoming a major misconception as four April events at Black Rock has transferred into a rain out on the second night of May.

Black Rock Speedway pulled the plug early on the May 2 program, including the BRP CanAm Series Season Opener. Their first trip to Dundee will has now been rescheduled for Friday June 13.

“Normally we wouldn’t call it this early, but with the CanAm Series traveling from so far away, we have to have a quicker trigger to give them ample time,” said Black Rock Owner Dean Hoag.

It should also be noted that with the announcement of the BRP CanAm Late Model Series rescheduled date, that it will replace Freedom Village USA Late Models standard race on June 13. The initially scheduled Sportsman Twin 15’s has now been made a single 20-lap event.

Racing resumes next Friday with the weekly six divisions at Black Rock all in action. Finger Lakes Auto, Truck, Marine NAPA and Seneca Beverage will present the program, which will include American Legion Fireworks. Racing will begin promptly at 6:45 p.m.
