(Woodhull, NY) For the first time in decades, last year the Woodhull Raceway staged a special Memorial Day event. “I wanted to try something different, stated track owner, Vern Wasson. I’ve seen other tracks run on Holidays with a great deal of success and I just wanted to see if it was feasible at Woodhull.”
Not only was it feasible, it turned out to be an overwhelming success as the place was absolutely packed for the event prompting Wasson to give it another go in 2008.
On the card for the Memorial Day event will be the first of two appearances by the BRP 360 Late Models at Woodhull in 2008. Larry Knowles, Wayne Robertson, Jeremy Wonderling and Glen Whritenour will lead the charge of many of the Woodhull 360 regulars who hope to hold their home track advantage against such greats as Jeff Cheeseboro, Jimmy Johnson and the Miller’s.
The IMCA Modifieds will also be in action as it will be the lone appearance for the Nationally acclaimed sanctioning body at Woodhull in 08.
The Regional International Pro-Truck touring series will make its first of two appearances at Woodhull on Monday, May 26 as the Mike Warren led group promises to be ultra competitive on Woodhull’s high banks. The second year touring group continues to gain momentum.
Two of Woodhull’s regular classes will fill out the card including the Morgan’s Auto Repair Street Stocks along with the LaBarron Brothers Repair and Parts Front Wheel Drive Class.
Gates for the May 26 program open at 2:30 with the first green flag waiving at 4:30 pm.
Gary’s Motor Mart of Jersey Shore, Pa. will be the event sponsor.
The Woodhull Raceway is located 20 miles west of Corning and 20 miles east of Hornell right off Rt. 417 and for more information go to the web at www.woodhullraceway.com.
