Jason Meyers and World of Outlaws Strike Out Again with Mother Nature
Gets on the Track for a Minute at Paducah
CLOVIS, Calif. (May 11, 2008) - With the Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. getting rained on this Friday, World of Outlaws (WoO) officials teamed up with track officials to reschedule the event for Sunday, June 8th. WoO veteran Jason Meyers of Clovis, Calif., packed up and headed south to Paducah, Kentucky for the event at the Paducah International Raceway.
GETTING TO RACE AT PADUCAH - MAYBE?
Finally getting back on the track at Paducah, the Elite Racing Team was a little bit worried after looking at the weather throughout the day, however plugged on as normal. Going out for qualifying Meyers set down an AMT i.t. timed lap of 13.742, which was good enough for tenth quick. Lining up on the pole for his heat, Meyers would cross the line first, which was good enough to give him a spot in the Crane Cams Dash. Shortly after he drew the number one pill, lining him up on the pole for the event, the clouds opened, and officials decided to postpone the event, and will be announcing the makeup date shortly. Unfortunately for Meyers and the Elite Racing Team, the entire program will have to be run over again.
"All we want to do is race and right now, Mother Nature isn't cooperating with us," noted a frustrated Meyers. "A lot of people are asking if I'm concerned that we have lost the great momentum that we had built up through last year into the start of this year, and my answer is no - we kept that momentum up through our off-season and as long as we keep working hard and keep digging every night, I'm confident that we will do just fine."
UP NEXT FOR ELITE RACING:
The Elite Racing Team is looking forward to their first east coast swing, kicking off on Tuesday, May 13 in Pennsylvania at the Lernerville Speedway, a day off on Wednesday, two nights at the famous Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Penn., taking a day off on Saturday, and concluding at the Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, N.Y. Meyers staged a great battle in Middletown last year with Daryn Pittman and hopes to add to his series-leading three victories this weekend.
