Lance Dewease Scores Strong Second, Pads ASCoC Lead at Port Royal.
FAYETTEVILLE, PA. –Lance Dewease and the No. 30c Catoctin Motorsports had to sit through a rainout on Friday at Williams Grove but came back the next night at Port Royal with a heat win and second in the feature, adding to his healthy points lead over Dale Blaney in All-Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car standings.
“We were just OK in the feature,” said Dewease about the Saturday show at Port Royal. “In the heat race, we were real good,” he added. “Overall we had a pretty good weekend.” Pretty good weekend indeed: with a heat victory over Randy Hannagan. Dewease started eighth in the feature and worked his way up to second by the checker.
The heat win and second-place in the main gave Lance a point total of 1,562 points over Blaney’s 1,397, padding his lead from last week.
The next race on the Catoctin Motorsports schedule is slated for this Tuesday, at Lernerville, with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws and then at Williams Grove on Thursday and Friday, in a televised WoO race. ASCoC’s calendar is open for the next week, so Dewease will head to Grandview Speedway on Tuesday, May 20 with the Outlaws again before heading to the Dirt Track at Charlotte on May 23 for the Outlaws’ show the night before the Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
“We’re gaining a little bit on our [new] car,” commented Dewease. “We are not totally happy but we’re making progress.”
Watch for Lance Dewease in the ASCoC season and at selected World of Outlaws races.
