ASCS Sprints on Dirt Cross the Border to South Buxton


Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 12, 2008) – The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz travel north of the border this Saturday night with the series' lone stop of the year at South Buxton Raceway in Merlin, Ontario.



It will mark the series first event at South Buxton Raceway since May of 2006, as both Merlin attempts last year fell victim to Mother Nature.



The ASCS Sprints on Dirt opened up an ambitious 2008 campaign this past Saturday night at Michigan's Thunderbird Speedway, with Jerome, MI, shoe Ben Rutan capturing his seventh career series win.



Rutan, who finished a close third in series points last year behind Tim Norman and Brett Mann, is out to the earl series point lead in front of Gregg Dalman, who topped the series last stop at South Buxton in 2006.



Mike Galajda, Mann and Canadian Kyle Patrick round out the early top five in points, with defending series champion Norman in sixth.



Saturday's racing action at South Buxton Raceway is slated to get under way at 7:00 p.m.



The semi-banked, 3/8-mile South Buxton Raceway clay oval is located 3.4 miles northeast of CR 7 in Merlin, ONT, on CR 8 to South Buxton, then 0.2 miles south on CR 6. For more information, contact the track at 519-689-7474 or 1-888-272-2251


In its 29th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints On Dirt presented by Victor Reinz will sanction 26 nights of action at 14 different tracks throughout Michigan, Ohio and Ontario.



The nation's most prominent Sprint Car sanctioning body with a dozen different Regions throughout the United States in addition to the O'Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, the American Sprint Car Series' (ASCS) 17th year of activity will include approximately 250 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout 28 different states and Canada.
