Mother Nature finally brought some warm and sunny weather on a Saturday, which allowed the OhioCAT/HRE/Troyer of Rob Curtis to make its much anticipated debut at the Sharon Speedway. Rob drew a 31 pill for heat race action which placed the Curtis Race Team #86 in the third position of the second heat race. Despite not having been behind the wheel of a race car since last June, Rob brought the OhioCAT/Hine Racing Engines/Troyer home in second place.
Sharon Speedway has instituted a new redraw system for 2008. Rather than a computer generated redraw a “Prize Wheel” with options such as “invert zero”, “invert two”, “invert four”, etc. is used to determine the feature event lineup. This week’s spin of the wheel was an “invert eight” which placed The Curtis Race Team’s #86 in the fifth position for the starting grid for the 25 lap main event.
Rob weathered several cautions and an ill handling race car to bring home an eighth place finish. It was a good way to start the 2008 season as the OhioCAT/HRE/Troyer and the driver both crossed the finish line safely and “in one piece!!”
“With the changes that were made to the configuration of the track in the off-season Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and I knew we would have to make several setup adjustments. The inside groove of the speedway has virtually been eliminated and since that was the line I normally ran at Sharon we will make additional setup changes for next week,” said Curtis.
Rob, Crew Chief Rob McElhaney and Head Wrench Jim Moats will be busy preparing the Troyer Chassis for this Saturday’s racing action at the Sharon Speedway.
The entire Curtis Race Team would also like to thank Ohio CAT, Greenville Gun and Supply, Lias Tire, Greenville Auto Supply, Denny’s Restaurant, McCann’s Powder Coating, Open Signs, Beto’s Pizza, Intense Fabrication, Hine Racing Engines, and The Body Shop (Jamestown, PA) for their continued support. Additional product sponsors for 2008 include K&N Performance, Auto Meter Gauges, Crow Enterprizes, Valvoline, Awesome Racewear, Intercomp, Lincoln Electric and Hyperco.
