CLEVELAND BROTHERS WORLD OF OUTLAWS VICTORY TO STEVE KINSER

MECHANICSBURG, PA ? The greatest sprint car driver in World of Outlaws history proved he still has something left in the tank. Steve Kinser scored an impressive victory over a star-studded field Thursday night at Williams Grove Speedway in an event sponsored by Cleveland Brothers.
Craig Keel took the lead at the start and set the early pace in the 25-lap feature with Lucas Wolfe second and Kinser third.
Kinser, who started fourth in the 28-car field, slipped past Wolfe on lap seven and began to stalk the leader.
Keel held on until lap 18 when Kinser used an inside move off turn two to take the lead. He was never challenged during the closing stages as he rolled to his 38th career victory at Williams Grove, which tied him with the late Kenny Weld for 7th place on the track?s list of winners.
The victory ended a three-year absence from the Grove?s victory lane for Kinser, whose last win at the Mechanicsburg half-mile came on May 27, 2005.
Kinser earned $8000 for his performance.
Keel crossed the line second, but his valiant effort ended at the scales when his car failed to make weight causing him to be disqualified.
Donny Schatz claimed the runnerup position after a tremendous effort in which he charged from the 17th starting spot.
Joey Saldana settled for third. Doug Esh was fourth and Lucas Wolfe completed the top five.
Jac Haudenschild, Todd Shaffer, Mike Erdley, Greg Hodnett and Jeff Shepard finished in positions six through ten respectively.
Hodnett set fast time in qualifications with a lap of 16.178.
Heats for the 48 cars in competition were won by Shepard, Wolfe, Esh and Kerry Madsen.\
Jason Johnson won the C-main and Pat Cannon copped the B.
The dash was claimed by Craig Keel.
