25th Anniversary Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Gets into Full Gear at Utica-Rome for a $2,000 to win A-Main: Also, First leg of GSSI I-90 Challenge.

SYARCUSE, N.Y. – After a successful opening event at Black Rock Speedway to kick off the 25th Anniversary Tour for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS), the 31 date schedule will now be kicking into full gear this Sunday, May 25th at the Utica-Rome Speedway. As a tradition, the winged wonders will be celebrating the Memorial Day Weekend on the fast half-mile in Vernon, N.Y.

Not only will the SUNY Canton A-Main pay with winner a cool $2,000 but this will also be the first event of the GSSI I-90 Challenge where a $1,000 point fund will be awarded to the top five in points from this event and the Earl Halaquist Memorial on Saturday night, May 31st to be held at the Fonda Speedway. If a driver sweeps both events the cash take home could very well top the $4,500 mark.

Justin Barger captured the opener and has an early start to the 2008 Lucas Oil Championship but with name like Lance Yonge, Doug Emery, Steve Poirier and Alain Bergeron finishing right behind, the 2008 season is already shaping up to be a wild one. All these stars along with Jeff VanDusen, Jeff Cook, Michael Parent, Bubby Kerrick, Dan Kaszubinski, Jason Barney, Jessica Zemken, Brian McDonald, Gordy Button, Tommy Wickham, Cory Sparks, Mike Stelter and a slew other top drivers will fill the pits.

Three or four Car Mate Custom Built Trailers heat events will start off the action followed by the Walton’s Farm and Auto Repair/Walt’s Hobby Dash, the KSE Racing Products B-Main leading up to the 25 lap SUNY Canton finale which pays $2,000 to win and $250 just to take the green.

It’s a holiday tradition, the stars and cars from ESS, the Utica-Rome Speedway and honoring those that gave their lives to have us enjoy motorsports events in our country with freedom.
