Rain Forces Cancellation of World of Outlaws Finale at Williams Grove Speedway
Mechanicsburg, PA— May 17, 2008—Rain hit Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania right as the third Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series heat race of the night was about to take the green flag, forcing the cancellation of the second night of racing at the famed half-mile.
The night began with Cody Darrah setting fast time, with a very strong 44-car in attendance. The first heat race went to Terry McCarl, while current Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship point leader Jason Meyers took the win in the second heat.
The World of Outlaws will return to Williams Grove Speedway twice more this season, first on July 18-19 for the annual Summer Nationals and will make their final appearance of the season at the track on September 26-27 as they will contest the Morgan Hughes National Open.
The event from Thursday night at Williams Grove, which was won by 20-time series champion Steve Kinser can be seen on SPEED on Saturday, May 31 at 4 p.m. Eastern.
The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series returns to action on Sunday, May 18 at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York.
