Susquehanna, PA…The first big event of the 2008 season at Penn Can Speedway will kick off the Memorial Day Weekend when the American Racing Drivers Club Midgets return to Penn Can Speedway. The mighty wingless midgets will be joined by Penn Can’s own modifieds, late models, sportsman, super stocks, and 4 cylinder stocks in a SPEEDFEST of great racing excitement. Don’s Automotive Mall of Binghamton is the sponsor of this big holiday weekend special.
The ARDC organization is one of the nation’s longest running sanctioning bodies. Some of the nations best drivers have gotten their start in midget racing with the ARDC including the likes of Mario Andretti, Nick Fornoro Senior and Junior, Larry Dickson, Johnny Parsons Jr., Ron ‘Sleepy’ Tripp, Jan Opperman, Bobby Marshman, Tom Bigelow, Smokey Snellbaker, Mitch Smith, Mel Kenyon, Wally Dallenbach, Len Duncan, Leigh Earnshaw Jr., Pancho Carter, Billy Hughes, and many more.
This season star of ARDC include two time champion Andy Martin, Tracy Readinger, Frank Polimeda, Randy Monroe, Jr., Brett Arndt, Nick Wean, will join a field of over twenty five midgets looking for the $1000 to win feature race sponsored by Burke Trucking of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania.
Opening Night modified winner Jeff Rudalavage will be looking to add to his win total. The rainy weather has caused scheduling problems and many of the stars at Penn Can are looking to get on track and get their seasons started in Victory Lane . Joey Grammes, Brian Weaver, Alan Rudalavage, Craig Terrell, Dan Vauter, and many others will all be looking for the modified checkered flag.
Tracy Gregory will look to keep his car up front in the late model division while Dwayne Robbins will look for another sportsman victory at the three eights mile oval.
