Fultonville, NY - South Glens Falls, New York's Floyd Billington started his 2008 Glen Ridge campaign off in fine fashion with a strong opening day second place and a feature win, but since then, his luck had run dry. A series of accidents and sub par performances led to a chassis change, back to his trusty Bicknell and hopefully a change of luck.
With his bad finishes behind him Billington would be joined on the front row by row by Joe Carnibucci. As the green flag fell Billington would take the top spot. Carnibucci would bring out the caution later after tangling with Randy Hotaling ending the modifieds rookies strong performance. Billington would hold on to the top spot while defending track champion Craig Hanson and invader Paul Kinney would start a charge through the field. Using the extreme high side Kinney would make his way into the top 5 while Hanson would find his way past Jamike Sowle to take over the second position. Kinney's charge would end after he slipped off the top of turn 2, spinning his mount and bringing out the caution. On the restart Hanson would make a run at Billington but would slip back into the clutches of Sowle. Hanson would later bring out a caution as he stopped in turn one with a flat right rear tire, he would rejoin the field. Billington would go on to be the first repeat winner of the season. Sowle would be second followed by Richie Price, Dustin Purdy and Randy Hotaling.
Chris McCoy would lead the Budget Sportsman field to the start of there feature and would take the early lead with John Constantino in tow. McCoy would hold the point until a pair of cautions would put the field on his bumper and eventually past the rookie pilot, shuffling him back through the field. John Constantino would be next at the point but contact would Robert Gray would send Constantino around in turn 4 and send the field scrambling collecting up Steve Douglas. Jeremiah Munson has silently picked his way through the field and would take over the top spot and cruised to his 3rd victory of the season. Kory Wilder would be second followed by Gray, Angela Hoard, and Brian Jones.
Jason Samrov would use his pole starting position to take the early lead in the Street Stock feature over Sam Surnear. Samrov's lead would be short lived and he would get crossed up on a restart spinning into the infield on the front stretch handing the lead over to Randy Cosselman. Bob VanAernam Memorial winner Dave Pope was on the charge making his way to the front and taking over the lead but his lead to was short lived as something would go wrong in the cars suspension leading to contact with Randy Cosselman sending the #27 mount spinning. Pope would bring out 2 more cautions before retiring from the race. 3 time winner Dave Bayes would inherit the lead with Pope's misfortune would quickly face pressure from Justin Knight and Chuck McSpirit. As the trio battled Brian Cosselman would join the fray with McSpirit taking over the top spot. McSpirit would leave Knight, Bayes, and Cosselman to do battle as he slipped away to the feature victory. Knight would finish second followed by Bayes, Cosselman, and Rob VanAernam.
Nathan Sitterly and Jamie Warner would lead the Cruiser division to the green flag with Warner taking the top spot. Bobby Rhinehardt would make his way to the second spot and put pressure on Warner but Kerry Hollenbeck was hot on his heels. As Rhinehardt and Warner battled for the lead they would leave the bottom open for Hollenbeck who would slip through to take the top spot. Warner and Rhinehardt would battle till the last corner with Sitterly close behind. At the finish it would be Hollenbeck taking his 5th win of the season followed by Rhinehardt. Sitterly would sneak through for his best career finish with Warner and Chris Andrew rounding out the top 5.
