Drake holds Late Model points lead at Santa Maria.

Santa Maria, CA - 5-28-08...Late Model Stocks, D&S Automotive IMCA Modifieds, Factory Stocks and Mini Stocks take over the 1/3-mile Santa Maria Speedway oval Saturday night.*
*With a victory and a second in the two races held thus far in 2008, Steve Drake of San Luis Obispo holds a 16 point lead in the Late Model Stock championship point standings. Bakersfield's John Lowrey runs second, with Buena Park's Billy Griffin (-18), Arroyo Grande's Devin Crockett (-22), and Lompoc's Dana Beattie (-23) next in line.
*Danny Lauer, of Santa Maria, continues to hold the point lead in the Modified division, while Kenny Kirkpatrick, of Nipomo, has moved into second place in the point standings, 17 markers behind, after his first feature victory of the season last weekend. Santa Maria's Doug Thornton is in third, 22 points out of the lead, while two drivers, Coalinga's Rich Denman and Santa Maria's Josh Vogt are tied for fourth, another 10 points back.
*Carpinteria's Theo Van De Sande missed last week's Factory Stock show allowing Kirk Morgan to expand his point lead. Van De Sande had been 3 points behind Morgan in second, but now has dropped to seventh in the standings, elevating Kevin Linson, of Arroyo Grande, to second, 27 points in arrears. Santa Maria drivers Glen Sparks (-30), Michael Frazier (-31), and Tim Bennett (-42) fill the top-five.
*Jeremy Heroux's May 17 feature victory moved him into second spot in the Mini Stock points chase behind point leader Justin Marsh. The two Nipomo drivers are separated by four points. The top-two are followed by: Justin Crockett (-13), Arroyo Grande; Mike Weigel (-39), Lompoc; and, Walker Irwin (-48), Santa Maria. * *
*Gates for Saturday night's event will open at 3:00 p.m., with qualifying at 5:15 p.m. and racing at 6:00 p.m. Ticket prices will be: $15.00 for adults, $11.00 for seniors (65+), $5.00 for children 6 to 12, 5 and under free. The Speedway does not accept credit cards.
