Regional Point Chases Swing Into Full Gear On DIRTcar NorthEast Circuit!

Regional Points Now In Full Gear Across DIRTcar NorthEast Circuit

Weedsport, NY – May 29, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

The battle for supremacy in the DIRTcar Racing NorthEast Regional points chase is now in full swing across the entire circuit with the first full month ready to come to a close this weekend.

With more than $45,000 on the line in DIRTcar NorthEast’s top open-wheel divisions this season, another fight to the finish is expected in the third year of Regional point fund allocation. 135 drivers that competed in the Big-Block Modified, 358-Modified and Sportsman Modified divisions last year were rewarded for their success in the most lucrative regional post-season awards program for weekly teams found anywhere in the country today.

Ranked as the winningest driver on the entire DIRTcar NE circuit, Big-Block veteran Billy Decker (8 wins) stands atop the Central division points chart tied for the lead in standings at both Brewerton Speedway and Can-Am Motorsports Park . Current Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series and Orange County Fair Speedway high points man Brett Hearn (4 wins) is first in the Eastern bracket while Tri-City Speedway leader Kevin Bolland (3 wins) paces the Western Regional race.

Standing fourth in Can-Am points in search of his first feature win of the young season, 2006 Motorsports Safety Systems 358-Modified Rookie of the Year Lance Willix II ranks highest in the Northern Regional standings with Pete Bicknell (3 wins) on course to defend his Small-Block title earned last season out West. Orange County co-leaders Tim Hindley (1 win) and second-generation standout Jerry Higbie are also deadlocked on the Eastern 358 chart after Memorial Day.

An aspiring Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series contender, talented teenager and current Thunder Alley Speedpark points leader Chris Raabe (3 wins) tops the Northern Regional standings with Daryl Hilkert (Central) and Tyler McPherson (Western) taking command in both New York and Canada. Hilkert (1 win) holds down third in points at Black Rock Speedway while tri-track runner McPherson is tied for the lead at Merrittville, ranks second at Humberstone and is fifth at Ransomville although still winless in the crate engine-dominated class.
