Mother Nature wins her first race of the season at Edelweiss Speedway
Cantley, PQ – Friday, May 30, 2008 – Martin Bélanger - On Imprimerie Brisson night, Edelweiss Speedway was presenting a complete race program plus some 4 wheelers race at the end of the night but Mother Nature had other plans for the organizers.
Only one feature race was completed with the Mod-Lite class that were able to race their 15-lap event on slippery track conditions because of the rain. The best field of year with 7 cars and Dean Pronovost was again the best of the class winning his third feature of the year over Wyatt Mullin, Christian Pronovost, Dave Bell and newcomer Brian Green completed the top 5. Dean Pronovost had a perfect night of racing with his win in the heat race.
The other categories were able to complete their qualifiying heat with Bobby Herrington and Brian McDonald winning in the modifieds, Brian Rochon and Richard Brady in the Semi-Pro and Martin Lagacé in the 4 cylinders.
Even though the weather was iffy, many new drivers had made their first appearance this year. Jessica Zemken who was teaming with Brian McDonald last night was here to try the track for the Canadian DIRT Series that will be held later during the summer. Zemken finished second behind McDonald in her heat race. Ryan Poole was the other newcomer in the modifieds. Kevin Jodoin and Roger Villeneuve in the Semi-Pro and Miguel Diotte in 4 cylinders were also at their first try of 2008.
The Centre Sports Motorisés 4 wheeler race was also on the schedule with many drivers present for this first event.
What a Friday night next week-end with double feature races in the Modifieds, Semi-Pro and 4 cylinders. The 4 wheelers will also have their race. Along with all those finals, the Pro-Stocks will also be there plus a demolition derby. All these races for only 12$, a big show and it will start at 7:30pm. Be there!
