Sportsman race is added on Friday, June 13 at Edelweiss Speedway
Cantley, PQ – Martin Bélanger – Edelweiss Speedway has decided to add an event to his Friday, June 13 race schedule. The Sportsman will have a special race with a distance of 25 laps.
The winner of the race will get a cool $500 and everyone who starts the feature event will be guaranteed to get $100. The heats winner will obtain 50$ for their victory.
For people who do not know this class, these vehicles uses the same chassis as a modified but have a crate engine and the wheels are made of steel instead of aluminium. They are slower than a modified but they give some good shows.
The speedway received many phone calls from Sportsman drivers that wanted to have a race at Edelweiss and the promoter Serge Lagacé decided to give a night to them so that they can race. After meeting with nearly 25 drivers at Brockville, the majority of them have confirmed that they will make the haul down to our speedway for this event.
This category represents the future for the modified and many drivers and fewer than 18 years old. The drivers that will be running at Edelweiss are regulars at Brockville, Can-Am and Thunder Alley. In the group, a few women a driving these cars and some of them will be present. Erin Joyce who lives near the speedway has already confirmed her presence for this race.
We encourage the fans to come and see the future of DIRTcar with all the drivers wanting to win this race. Along with the Sportsman, a complete race program is on the schedule with a wet-track enduro at the end of the night. This evening is brought to you by Enseignes Multi-Graphique. Be there!
