FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FRANKLIN, PA .. For the fourth season in a row, R.N. Goss Gas of
Reno, Pa., has teamed with nationally known Lincoln Welders to sponsor the
2008 Lincoln Welders Ironman Award at Tri-City Speedway.
The Lincoln Welders Ironman Award honors consistency and success at
the fast half-mile Venango County dirt track. The race team that
completes the greatest percentage of laps in heat race and feature
competition in all divisions combined will receive a new Lincoln Welder at the
2008 season banquet in January. If there is a tie at the top of the
season standings, a blind draw will be held at the banquet in order to
honor the top team for consistency in 2008.
"The Ironman Award is a favorite among our race teams," said
Tri-City Co-Promoter Mike Graham. "They really focus on it, especially towards
the end of the season. It means a lot because the award demonstrates
which team performs the best all season long putting a premium on weekly
race preparation. Having worked on my father's race cars years ago, I
know how important it is to work hard throughout the week as a crew.
It's the team that is the focus of this award. Of course, the driver
needs to perform well and keep the car on the track. That's what's great
about this award. All the pieces have to work together to have a chance
to win it."
Just like the Schwab's Ford Hard Charger Award, the Lincoln Welders
Ironman Award makes each race team compete with one another regardless
of the division in which each team races. The number of laps run in the
heats and features varies with each division, which is the reason that
the award honors the team that completes the greatest percentage of
heat and feature race laps, rather than the greatest number of laps.
Amazingly enough, in each of the last three seasons, at least three
drivers and teams were tied at the top of the standings at season's end
having completed 100% of all heat race and feature laps throughout the
season, and the award winner was chosen via blind draw. Past award
winners include DIRTcar Big Block Modified star Rex King (2005),
three-time Super Sprint track champion Bob Felmlee (2006), and former Thundercar
racer Regina Deloe (2007).

Tri-City Speedway is owned and operated by Roger and Susie Crick and
Mike and Margaret Graham. They have promoted Sunday night racing at
the popular facility since they reopened it in 1996. The DIRTcar Big
Block Modifieds, FASTRAK Late Models, E Mods, Pro Stocks and Thundercars
race each week at the Venango County half-mile dirt oval. Tri-City is
located seven miles north of Franklin, Pa., off State Route 417.
