Track Too Wet for Racing
Both the Holiday Inn, Trenton $5.00 Friday event and the Saturday program presented by HMS were cancelled this past weekend as Mother Nature dropped too much water on the 1/3 mile clay oval at Brighton Speedway. Although the program was cancelled with plenty of notice on Friday, May 30th, Saturday May 31st had the drivers in their pits, and fans in the stands, when the skies opened up for a brief shower. Despite tremendous effort by the drivers and track staff to re-pack the clay and get rid of the moisture, it was decided that conditions would not be safe for racing and all of the events were rescheduled.
Originally scheduled for Friday, the Gord’s Water Vantastics will be added to the Saturday June 21st Program, along with Saturday’s ever popular Great Canadian Oil Change Spectator 1 on 1 racing. Race one of the Hotch’s Auto Parts Pro Stock Triple Crown event has been set for Saturday, June 14th. The Hotch’s Auto Parts 30 lap enduro and all other race events from the May 30 and 31st weekend will not be rescheduled.
Tickets purchased or dated for May 31st will be honoured for June 7th or June 8th. Those holding these tickets can enter the races through the North Gate, near the Lucas Oil Top Deck on Saturday June 7th only, to avoid any potential delays through the main gate. Tickets for the June 7th event can also be purchased in advance, in order to beat the line-ups, at the Speedway Office, or by emailing info@brightonspeedway.com. Seating is always first come first served with no guarantee of seating. Advance tickets are a great idea as a record number of school busses are expected to be on hand, along with the Canadian Modifieds, Comp 4, Pure Stocks and Stingers, as Lange and Fetter Motors presents the Leon’s school bus races. Sunday June 8th will see amateur racers hit the track in the Hotch’s Auto Parts 66 mile scrambler endurance race. Over 70 cars are anticipated to attack the track, all at once, in a quest to see who can be the first to complete 200 laps. Green flag flies on Saturday June 7th at 7pm and on Sunday June 8th at 2:00pm.
