Garnet Wilson worked his way thru half the field in 5 laps in the 40
lap Ministock event on Sunday night to be crowned the first winner of
the
Joe Cosco Memorial Triple race event. This series working differently
from
past series, the entire field was inverted after 20 laps, meaning the
person
who captured the checkered flag for the first 20 laps was put tail.
This
event has a $10000.00 points fund at the end of the 3 race series,
given out
among the competitors. Aaron Wiley was the winner of the first twenty
lap
event which meant for the next 20 laps, he started in the 12th starting
position and the 71 of Garnet Wilson starting in the 10th position.
Wilson
took the lead from the 2ez on lap 25, sending the 2ez to second. The
2ez of
Evan Curtis having a good run until he had to pull into the pits for
reasons
unknown, giving the second place to the 10S of James Small. Top 5 in

the
Niagara Auto Sales Pro 4 Truck Division. The 64 of Don Lessard managed
to
take the lead from Tyler Grove, who was having an excellent race and
lead
for 13 laps of the 15 lap event. A caution coming out on lap 13 is what
helped pack the cars together and allowed |Lessard a neck to neck start
with
Grove. End of the race heartache for Grove who looked like he had
second
place locked up, had to pull off with apparent engine problems. Top 5
were
Don Lessard, Doug Banner, Ed McNamara and Al Joliviet. (Heat winners
were
Rick Book and Don Lessard)
The DTD 360 Sprints made their first visit to The New Humberstone
Speedway in the 2008; Chuck Hebing was the victor in the 25 lap event.
Scary
moment on lap 2 when the 94 of Stan Zanchin ended up on his side, the 7
of
Jim Price did a rollover and the 71 of Craig Downie were all involved
in a
caution. Rescue crews were on the scene immediately and all were okay
physically, but tempers were hot. Former and present sportsman drivers
were
on hand, Rob Pietz had an impressive run with a 4th place finish. Dave
Dykstra ran a solid race in 2nd position until lap 16 when he had to go
into
the pits because he ran out of fuel. Present Cosco Haulage Sportsman
driver
Nick Cupolo ran a good race with a solid 10th place finish. Top 5 were
Chuck
Hebing, Tim Benard, Kyle Moffit, Rob Pietz and Jim Porter. (Heat
winners
were Tim Bernard and Rob Pietz)
In the Cosco Haulage Sportsman Division it was the 1P of Darren
Peters who captured the checkered flag in the 25 lap event. Peters who
lead
the race from lap 6 on, but Tyler McPherson in the 777 was trying to
give
him a run for his money. The only caution of the feature was on lap 20
and
had the young gun and the 1P neck and neck for the restart. But in the
end
the 1P managed to keep his line and capture the win. Top 5 were Darren
Peters, Tyler McPherson, Mat Williamson, Don Spiece and Greg Panunte.
(Heat winners were Tyler McPherson, Don Spiece and Darren Peters)

Brian's Tire Repair Streetstock division, Hogue in the 48H won last
week as
well. Hogue have a good first laps managed to drive into 2nd place by
lap 2,
having started in the 9th place starting position. The 1J was also
having a
good run in 2nd position until a flat tire had him pulling into the
pits.
117 of Rick Beales finally having a good run after a couple of weeks
with
car problem gave Hogue some competition. Top 5 Bill Hogue, Rick Beales,
Barry Blanchard, Alan Sleight, Brad Sheehan. (Heat winners were Bill
Hogue,
Jaren Israel and Rick Beales)
The New Humberstone Speedway also had one more event at the end of
