Earl Halaquist Memorial for the 25th Anniversary Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints at Fonda Falls to Rain.
FONDA, N.Y. – The 5th annual running of the Earl Halaquist Memorial was captured by Mother Nature Saturday night at the Fonda Speedway. It marked the first rain out for The 25th Anniversary Tour event for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) but fans of the famed “Track of Champions” will be hearing about a rain date very shortly.
“We are really disappointed that we couldn’t get the Halaquist Memorial in but promoter Ric Lucia had no choice. It rained hard all night and then when a 1PM thunder storm moved in it was time to make the decision.” said ESS President Chuck Miller. “With many family members of the Halaquist family going to be in the stands along with some 30 sprints it was a shame that the weather wasn’t on our side. We are working with Ric right now for a rain date, most likely sometime in August.”
Next up for the Lucas Oil sponsored tour will be the first of two visits to the newly named Mohawk International Raceway (formerly Frogtown Int’l) for a $2,000 to win, SUNY Canton A-Main event. For more information, please log on to www.empiresupersprints.com .
