WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (June 4) – Hamilton County Speedway will add
IMCA’s Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod division to its weekly race
programs beginning in 2009.
“I like the rules for this division. They’re fair for all competitors
because they put everyone on the same play ing field,” explained
promoter Al Uhrhammer. “Another plus is that they allow drivers to
race here for IMCA national and state points, as well as local track
points.”
The Webster City track already sanctions its Late Model, Modified,
Hobby Stock and Sport Compact classes with IMCA. The Modifieds and
Hobby Stocks returned to Saturday night cards this season, following
a 17-year hiatus.
Northern SportMods are running at 20 tracks in seven states this year.
“The Northern SportMods continue to be our fastest growing class,
both in terms of tracks adding new sanc tions and the number of new
drivers,” IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root said. “Because
of its economics and level of equal competition, we expect to see
more new sanctions and new drivers next sea son.”
