Rivers, Pratt, Martin, Jones and Aradine Receive Top Honors at Genesee

Rich Vleck, BATAVIA, NY (June 7, 2008)- On a warm night for racing in Genesee County, a pair of past champions began to heat up for another title run with their first wins of the season at the Genesee Speedway.

Pepsi Night saw four first time winners and a pair of drivers going back-to-back in their mini stocks.

Jon Rivers took command of the lead on lap 4 of the Castle Powered Late Model Feature and never looked back. Picking up the win by over a half-second.

Rivers, the 2005 Champion, has been strong early on in the season, but he picked up his first win of the season on Saturday Night.

Justin Chaddock was a close second with early leader Dave DuBois third. Pete Waldron had an impressive fourth with Tim Kauffman rebounding from a disappointing finish the week before to complete the top-five.

Defending Troyer Chassis Sportsman Champion Rob Pratt carved up from his fifth place starting spot into the lead on lap nine and cruise to the win. Pratt was using his new Gavenda powerplant between the rails to charge to the front.

John Venuto also navigated his way through the pack, coming from eighth to finish in second. Greg Mrzywka led part of the feature and would finish third. Don Spatorico and Steve Schumacher made up the rest of the top-five.

Mike Martin was the story of the night as he finally punched his ticket into Victory Lane in his beloved Original Pizza Logs Pro Stock.

Martin paced the field from the drop of the green flag and survived a myriad of stoppages to pick up a long-awaited win.

Eric Greenlief would cross in second with Don Barnes in third ahead of Pete Stefanski and Scott Stolzenberg.

Nathan Arnold appeared set to win his first career Power Trip Energy Drink Street Stock feature, but a caution with two laps to go was his kryptonite as Doug Jones and Joey Spicola moved around him and spoiled the party.

It was a jubilant win for Jones, as he poised in front of his beautiful No. 87 in Victory Lane. Spicola crossed the line in second, but would later be placed last for a motor infraction.

Arnold would be credited with second with the rest of the top-five Dave Downs, Lee Zimmerman and Colton Chappius.

Brandon Aradine scored his second-straight win in the Professional Driver Institute Mini Stock feature. It was less dramatic this time around but just as gratifying nonetheless.

Aradine beat Mark Forsha, Bobby Dickinson, Dan Norton and Alan Kemp.

Herb Neal scored his second straight win in the DML Driveway Sealing Bandits.

Racing action continues next week with one of the season highlights on the card. The Lucas Oil Sportsman Series gets their season going with a huge car count expected. Racing action will be presented by Bud Light and kicks off at 6:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.GeneseeSpeedway.com.
