Port Colborne, ONT…Jeff Chesebro, the defending BRP CanAm Late Model Series Champion, has returned to his winning ways. Sunday night at Humberstone Speedway Chesebro recorded first tour event win of 2008.
“We finished the job that I messed up here at Humberstone last year. This is great. We won at Little Valley (weekly event) last night and now here in Canada. I guess that makes me an international winner,” joked the Farmers Valley, PA racer from Victory Lane.
Chesebro was referring to his spectacular run at Humberstone a year ago where he lead lap 29, but ended up fourth at the finish one lap later.
Jim Johnson, the 2006 Humberstone winner, recorded his best 2008 tour event finish with a great runner-up finish in his Hot Rod Lincoln.
Paul Grigsby broke a string of bad luck with the final spot on the podium. Grigsby actually lead after a lap six restart, but was penalized two spots for jumping the start. “It was actually an honest start and Paul just beat me, but I don’t make those calls and nobody asked me until after the race,” shared Chesebro.
Steve Dixon continued his strong 2008 season by bring his little red Corvette home for fourth place at the checkers.
Rookie Jason Boyle competed in his first ever BRP CanAm A-Main and earned the Absolute Powder Coating Rookie of the Race honors by finishing fifth.
The DART Hard Charger of the Race was sixth place finisher Beamer Guzzardi who started 23rd.
A lap six crash eliminated the cars of Jason Knowles, Bob Bartlett, Mikey Wonderling, and Wayne Robertson from the event. There were no driver injuries.
