“ CAT TRACKS”
Starring Rob Curtis and The Curtis Race Team
Rob Curtis and the Curtis Race Team returned to action at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 7th. Thanks to Junior Pit Crew Member J.J. Moats the evening started off on a good note as J.J. drew the “Number 19 Pill” which placed Rob in the fifth starting position of the first heat event. Unfortunately Rob was unable to get the car “dialed in” to his satisfaction and ended up with a rather disappointing sixth place finish in the event.
An “Invert 4” redraw for the 25 lap feature event found the Ohio CAT /HRE/Troyer starting in the 11th position. Rob patiently worked his way around his fellow competitors and moved into the eighth position by lap 12. The event’s final caution flew on lap 14 and gave Rob one final opportunity to pass several more competitors and he did just that. The Ohio CAT Machine clawed its way into the sixth spot by lap 19. Rob battled fellow competitors Rob Kristyak and Dave Murdick for the final six circuits to bring the Ohio CAT /HRE/Troyer home in the sixth position for the second consecutive week.
“I need to thank my crew chief Rob McElhaney and head wrench Jim Moats for getting the Ohio CAT /HRE/Troyer dialed in for the feature. We had a left rear torsion bar that was going away in heat race action and the crew was able to make the necessary adjustments. In addition I need to “Thank” Jeff and Carlin Hines for their assistance each week. We continue to improve with each event and I am confident that their knowledge will enable us to put the Ohio CAT /HRE/Troyer in Victory Lane very soon,” stated Curtis.
The Ohio CAT Machine will be back in competition this Saturday, June 14th as the Sharon Speedway ( Hartford , OH ) will host another night of “Fantastic Five” racing action.
Rob and the Curtis Race Team are also proud to announce that the familiar White, Blue and Yellow #86 will be replaced by the Red and White paint scheme adorned with the #10 of legendary Sprint and Modified driver Lou Blaney for several races at the end of June. The car is tentatively scheduled to be on display at the Sharon Speedway on Saturday, June 21st. In addition, Rob will compete with this car in the Lou Blaney Classic on Friday, June 27th at Raceway 7, which is located in Conneaut , OH . “Lou Blaney has been a good friend as well as a mentor to me throughout my career. His knowledge and assistance have enabled me to become a better driver and it is an honor for me to carry his paint scheme and number for this special event. Lou is a “Living Legend” and this tribute is greatly deserved,” stated Curtis.
