Stéphane Lebrun wins the Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories Pro-Stock race at Autodrome Drummond

Drummondville, Qc – Saturday June 14, 2008 – A fine field of Pro-Stock were present for the first race of the Mohawk Race Parts and Accessories at Autodrome Drummond. It was also the first time in history that the series was presented at this speedway.
Ghyslain Valade and Corey Wheeler led the 20-car field on this 35-lap feature race. Valade got the early lead with Bruno Cyr moving up to second when the caution came out for Roch Aubin on lap 1. Valade got a good jump as Joey Ladouceur moves up to second and chases Valade for the top spot. The second caution comes out for Stéphane Lemire. Valade was again the leader when the green flew again with Ladouceur on his backbumper. Gilles Godard took third on lap 6 in the front stretch. Jocelyn Roy brought the caution with a flat tire he was running really well. On the restart, Valade and Ladouceur were 1 and 2 with Stéphane Lebrun getting a great start to jump in third. The top 2 were running very closely with Lebrun and Valade in position 3 and 4. These four cars created a big gap with the rest of the field. Ladouceur was trying hard to get the first place of Valade but he was able to resist. Ladouceur was slowing down with Lebrun and Godard passing him. Ladouceur went to the pits with problems after running in front with 5 laps to go. The top 3 were running in front with Ricky Thompson and PJ Peters running for the top 5. Lebrun was now challenging Valade for first with 1 to go. Lebrun took the outside on the final lap and passed Valade to capture the win in fashion in front of Valade, Godard finished third, PJ Peters finished fourth with Ricky Thompson completing the top 5. Stéphane Lebrun won the first qualifier while Joey Ladouceur was the winner in the second heat race.
A good feature event with a lot of action in every part of the 35-lap race and this gave a taste of what is to come for the rest of the series that will continue at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 6 for the second race of 5. It will then go to the Mohawk International Raceway on Saturday, July 19, Autodrome Edelweiss on Friday, August 15 and will end at Cornwall on August 17.
