Masters Truly a Masterful Event.
The Masters weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway truly is one of the highlights of IRA's season. This year was the 10th running of the event, for IRA is was their 4th as sprint cars were added to the nationally known late model event in 2005.
This year was another great weekend as IRA shared the card with the WDRL Late Models. 33 sprint cars took part in this year's running with Minnesota pilot Scott Winters having a career weekend by winning both night's of IRA competition and taking home $5500 for his efforts. The IRA as a series once again displayed its' regional strength, providing a solid field which put on some great racing for two night's in front of a very healthy crowd.
Cedar Lake plays host to two premier IRA trademark events as IRA will return on September 6th for the annual running of the Jerry Richert Sr Memorial. IRA would like to express its' thanks to the entire Cedar Lake Speedway staff, SuperFan Greg Parent for his gracious help, the 33 team's for their participation, and, of course the great many fans who support the IRA. With the devastating flooding throughout much of south central Wisconsin, it was extremely difficult on many. With the bulk of the IRA teams based in that region, just trying to get to the event was a nightmare in many cases with Interstate's shut down, bridges out, etc.. not to mention the concern of what was happening back at home. Other than the storm that hit just as the checkered flew on the sprint portion, the weekend went off without a hitch.
Thanks to all the helped make IRA's Master's weekend a success. We certainly look forward to next year. Complete race recap and photos can be found on the IRA's website at www.irasprints.com.
