NATIONAL SPRINT CAR HALL OF FAME & MUSEUM

OFFICIALLY DEDICATES “JIMMY CAMPBELL LOBBY”

KNOXVILLE, IOWA (June 16, 2008) - On Saturday, May 31, the staff and board of directors of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum Foundation, Inc., officially dedicated the “Jimmy Campbell Lobby” in honor of the late James Steven “Jimmy” Campbell of Bates City, Missouri. Campbell was the 1952 sprint car driver champion of the National Speedways circuit of the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA). The donation to the 501(c)(3) non-profit museum foundation by the James S. Campbell Estate has allowed the museum to create a healthy endowment fund to insure the financial future of the national institution whose mission is ‘promoting the future of sprint car racing by preserving its past history’.

Craig Agan, marketing director of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum, led the dedication ceremony with the help of Dr. Pat Sullivan of Carmel, Indiana. In attendance were many current and past board members whose efforts have been instrumental in the development of the museum since its incorporation on April 25, 1986. Also in attendance were Jimmy Campbell’s nephew Carl Duane Campbell and Jimmy’s daughters Linda Barnum, Rita Cosentino, Marcia Higgs and Rose Marie Rand.

The Jimmy Campbell Lobby now joins the Donald Lamberti National Sprint Car Museum, Pella Corporation National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, Marion County Fair Tower (of suites), and the proposed U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company Theatre as named areas within the national museum campus in Knoxville. For more information on the museum, individuals are urged to explore its web site at www.sprintcarhof.com.
