Corning, NY- As the Regional International Pro Truck Series nears the mid way point in the season, three different teams have graced the Signs Plus of Kanona Victory Lane.
Doug Buckley, Ralph Champion Jr., and Chris Leroux have also had their share of hard luck, but remain in a tight point’s battle as the Tour heads to Skyline Raceway just outside of Cortland NY .
Saturday, June 21st will be the lone stop for the Tour at the 3/8 mile semi banked clay oval, which is one of New York ’s oldest existing tracks, and has been under the guidance of Frank and Audrey Payne for over 20 years.
Buckley and Champion are the only current drivers to have lap time on the track, but the configuration should suit Leroux’ style of driving as well. Mike Warren hopes complete all 20 laps with a new coil wire installed and glued on in the Dodge powered Ram. Rumor has it 2007 Series Champion Terry Povoski will be there to give the points contenders a run for their money. Terry is always a tough Competitor, and to beat him on the track is an accomplishment in itself.
Don’t count out the rookies in this race either, Christian Thompson still leads the BFR Fabrication Rookie of the Year race, and contenders Mark Guinup and Jamie Freeman are starting to get the feel for the high powered Rear Wheel drive trucks. Mark and Jamie both come out of the front wheel drive ranks at Woodhull Raceway, and both stated last weekend it has been a quite the experience learning the ins and outs of the purpose built trucks.
Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, or enjoy the bleachers, either way, it will be an action packed evening to see if the trucks can go 4 for 4. Along with great racing in the Sportsman Mods, IMCA Mods, Pure Stocks, 4 Cylinder Super Stocks, Dogs & Pups. Gates open at 4:30 pm, Racing starts at 6:30 pm. Adult General Admission is just $10.00, Kids under 10 are free. Come check out the action where the Stars Shine Brighter, Skyline Raceway.
