CRSA SPRINTS TO VISIT UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY THIS SUNDAY ON TRIPLE B WELDING AND STEEL SALES NIGHT



VERNON , NY- As the month of June continues to march on, and so does the intense racing action at the Utica-Rome Speedway. This Sunday, June 22, another action packed evening is scheduled when the CRSA Sprints join a regular program of 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks on Triple B Welding and Steel Sales Inc. night. Gates open at 3 p.m. with racing at 5:30 p.m.



The competition in the 358-Modified division has been fierce so far in the 2008 season at the Utica-Rome Speedway and looks to be that way all season as drivers compete for the $8,000 track championship. So far this season, Stewart Friesen and Pat Ward have each won twice while Willy Decker has one victory of the season. Paul Kinney, Mitch Gibbs, Paul Jensen, Bobby Varin, Gus Schmidt, Andy Bachetti, AJ Romano, Jamie Christian, and Ted Lamb are just some of the talented drivers looking to score a win every week at “The Action Track of the East”



Brad Alger is the current point leader at the Vernon oval, with Matt Janczuk, Jason Rood, Tim Nye, and Steve Way filling out the top five. Alger and Mike Button have each grabbed two victories with Casey Williams having a single win.



The Pro Stock division has seen six different winners in six events, with Bret Belden, Tom Denton, Jim Normoyle, Mark Effner, Shawn Frost, and AJ Digsby all collecting a checkered flag this season. Currently, Normoyle leads Denton , Effner, Bill Knapp, and Frost in the standings.



Russ Marsden has been hot as of late, surging ahead in the Pure Stock standing with a recent win streak. Marsden leads a tight pack of drivers, just ahead of Chris Carr and Phil Norman. There is three way for fourth between Frank Hyatt, Waylan Wilczek, and Tim Janczuk.
