STYRES ENDS WINLESS STREAK BY TAKING THE SOS CHECKER
The Vanderlaan’s Building Supplies presentation of the Southern Ontario Sprints brought Glen Styres, #0, of Oshweken, ON back to Victory Lane after being winless in the series for over 2 years. His last win was at Brighton Speedway on May 6, 2006. Starting in 5th position, Styres moved into first during the 5th lap and never looked back, until he got out of the car on Victory Lane. Local favourite Rick Wilson, #42w, gave the crowd a show as he raced hard and fast from 8th position to take 2nd in the final lap.
Also riding the 1/3 mile clay oval in a fast and furious formation right into Victory Lane were Gary Vandertoorn, #8, of Brighton in his Brighton Automotive Pro Stock and the #15 Picture This Pure Stock of Sean Johnston, all the way from Wolf Island. Both wins are the first of the season for these gentlemen. Also taking her first double win, and waving the checker for both qualifier and feature, was this week’s Campbellford Chrysler Driver of the Week, #2 Leslie Turcotte, of Trenton in her Bill’s Johns Comp 4.
Everyone will get to celebrate with Leslie and the boys as Dibbit’s Excavating presents Fan Appreciation and Bumper Sticker Give Away Night, on Saturday June 21st. Filling the program card with the regular FAB 4 classes, including race 1 of the Pro Stock Duel in the Dirt presented by Lawns We Do and D.L. Services, and adding in the Gord’s Water VANtastics and the Great Canadian Oil Change Spectator one on one Racing will provide all race fans with an exciting night of affordable family entertainment. Green Flag flies at 7pm.
