Mckean County Raceway cancels June 26, 2008 event

Posted by Tom Ames  |  06/18/08

Event was to include the T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds along with the Super Late Models.

(Woodhull, NY) Officials of the McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa. recently announced the cancellation of the upcoming June 26 program at the track.

Due to numerous rainouts thus far in 2008, (the track has lost 7 or 9 events) coupled with a very sluggish economy the track management opted to cancel the June 26 Thursday Night Thunder program which was to have seen the inaugural appearance of the T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds along with the Super Late Models.

“I was informed a week ago that the June 26 T3 event at McKean was in doubt, stated T3 All Star Series promoter, Kenny Shupp. The track promoters made their final decision yesterday and we won’t have an event there this season. McKean is one of several tracks in this region that are really on the fence and I have serious reservations about them making it thru the season. The weather, the economy, the price of gas, everything is working against them.

It is unfortunate that we won’t be able to compete at McKean County in 2008 because our office has received numerous replies from drivers that had planned on attending. I can safely say that we would have had 35 plus cars in attendance.

The T3 All Star Series for 358 Modifieds presented by Troyer Race Cars will compete again on Thursday, July 3 at the Little Valley Speedway in Little Valley, NY. It will be the first of two appearances for the small block modified touring series at Little Valley in 2008 and the track is posting a special bonus package for the two T3 All Star Series events to be staged at the Cattaraugus County oval in 08.

A full release on the upcoming Little Valley show will be forthcoming.
