Laurent Ladouceur wins the modified feature race at Edelweiss Speedway
Cantley, PQ – Friday June 20, 2008 – Martin Bélanger - An excellent program tonight at Edelweiss Speedway as they presented a complete race program plus some 4-wheeler races presented by Benson.
Gage Morin and Philippe Landry leads the 30-lap modified with Eric Gauvreau rapidly taking the second place with Landry who took a good lead. Third place is hardly fought by Bobby Herrington and Laurent Ladouceur with Alain Boisvert completing the top 5 after 5 laps. Ladouceur passes Herrington for third with Gauvreau getting close to Landry for first. Boisvert is now fourth after an inside move on Herrington. Pierre Dagenais who started last has now cracked the top 5 at the halfway point. Landry has now company with Gauvreau, Dagenais and Boisvert on his backbumper. Ladouceur takes the lead on lap 20 with a move on Landry and his followed by Gauvreau, Dagenais and Boisvert. Ladouceur take a good lead on the field with Boisvert taking third over Dagenais. Ladouceur led the last laps to win the feature over Gauvreau, Boisvert, Dagenais and Landry. A great feature race, that went from green to checker with a lot of action. Gage Morin and Pierre Dagenais won the heat races.
Alexandre Gagnon is the leader in the Semi-Pro feature with Daniel Guindon is second and Guindon takes over the lead from the outside but has a flat tire with and the the yellow comes out on the second lap. Gagnon has a good start and his followed by Nico Leblanc et Mark Trudeau. Trudeau takes second on Leblanc on lap 8 and hits Gagnon, for this, Trudeau is sent to the pits for rough riding and yellow is out on the ninth lap. The new leader, Nico Leblanc has good start over Bruno Boivin and Marc Lalonde. Leblanc had a good lead when Gagnon loses control of his car and the yellow is thrown on the field. On the restart, Leblanc is still the leader and leads the final laps to win his first feature of the season over Bruno Boivin and Marc Lalonde.
In the Mod-Lite feature, Wyatt Mullin took the lead when an accident occured on the first lap. On the restart, Dean Pronovost gets a good jump and becomes the leader when a bad move puts him in second with Mullin in front. Pronovost repairs his error on the last lap and wins the feature race in front of Mullin. Pronovost had won the heat race.
Jean-Marc Larose took the lead in the 12-lap 4 cylinders feature race and lead the first 2 laps when Gabriel Mercier passes him and leads the following 8 laps when Martin Bernard takes the lead with 2 laps to go and wins the feature race over Mercier and Pilon complete the podium.
In the 4-wheeler features of the Centre Sports Motorisés Series, Joey Péladeau won in the 450 class and Yan Pétrin won the open class. The fans seem to appreciate the races of this series that will probably grow in the near future.
The night went smoothly as all the races were done by 9:45 and the entire features were really entertaining. Do not miss next week with a complete race program with the Pro-Stock having their third race of the Gilles Masson mini-series. A great show for everyone.
