New Egypt, NJ - After three rounds of New Egypt Speedway’s “Small Car
Sundays” management has decided to cancel the four remaining events
(June 22, July 20, August 24, and September 14). The Klascar
Legends, 600 Xcel Modified Series, and 600cc Micro Sprints headlined
the Sunday afternoon programs.
“The fan turnout wasn’t what we hoped it would be for
these Sunday shows and the car turnout was not acceptable in our
opinion. We were looking for counts to be in the mid-twenties in
all three classes not in the teens and the micros sprints had seven
cars the last time we raced,” offered track co-owner Bill Miscoski.
Tim Tomson who won twice and George Abt captured the
three Klascar Legend events. Nick Mady was the lone winner in the
Xcel Modified Series’ two appearances. Jeff Hartman, Rob Vivona (two
wins), and Jeff Carpenter were the victors in the four 600cc micro
sprint races. Johnny Carpenter has been declared the 2008 micro
sprint track champion. Rich Mellor and Jeff Carpenter finished
second and third respectively in the point chase.
