DOUBLE 358-MODIFIED FEATURES THIS WEEKEND AT UTICA-ROME SPEEDWAY
VERNON , NY- A full night of racing action is on tap this Sunday, June 29, when SnoFest 2009 in Old Forge NY presents the 358-Modifieds, Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks plus Autograph Night. Also, the postponed 30 lap 358-Modified feature and 15 lap Pure Stock feature from June 15 will kick off the night’s activities. It is also NYSSCA Safety Awards night. Racing starts promptly at 5:30 p.m. with gates opening at 3 p.m.
Thanks to Mother Nature, fans attending this Sunday’s event will be treated to a double dose of 358-Modifieds events. The night will begin with the postponed 358-Modified event before the regularly scheduled show. Some of the drivers looking to capture a double $1,600 payday include current point leader Pat Ward, defending track champion Stewart Friesen, past champions Willy Decker and Mitch Gibbs, Andy Bachetti, Bobby Varin, Paul Kinney, AJ Romano, Ted lamb, Gus Schmidt, Paul Jensen, and many more. With two point shows in one evening, the current standings could see a major shakeup.
Also running a makeup feature event is the Pure Stocks, who will compete in double 15 lap events. The Sportsman and Pro Stocks will also see action, in regular Sunday evening events.
Always popular with the fans, especially the younger ones, is Autograph Night. The drivers will bring their race cars onto the front stretch during intermission and fans will be allowed on to the racing surface to get to meet their favorite driver, get their autograph, or possibly get a photo with them.
The New York State Stock Car Association (NYSSCA) will be on hand for their annual visit with their Safety Awards Night. Competitors that are member of the non profit organization will be eligible for cash prizes at the end of each regularly scheduled feature event.
Utica-Rome Speedway is located on Route 5 in Vernon NY , just minutes from the New York State Thruway. For more information, please log on to www.uticaromespeedway.com or call the speedway office at (315) 829-4557.
