Chad Brachmann has finally won a feature at The New Humberstone
Speedway, and it just happened to be one of the biggest modified races
of
the season, the Lucas Oil 5 for 5 Modified Race. Brachmann who started
in
the pole position remained there for the entire 50 laps. It was looking
like
either 23 of Larry Lampman or the 42 of Pete Bicknell might snatch the
victory away but Brachmann was able to remain strong and powerful. Only
4
cautions thru-out the entire 50 lap event, some of them coming out at
the
wrong time for the 3 car. Last caution came out on lap 35, when race
director Jeff Anstett gave the lap cars the option of staying in
between
lead lap cars or going tail, all cars chose to go tail. This put
Bicknell
and Lampman right behind the 3 car. The 96 of Fred Carleton having a
good
race running in the 5th spot until going a little too high in turn 3-4
and
that cost him 3 spots, giving the 4th place finish to Travis Braun and
5th
place to Tim Jones. Top 5 Chad Brachmann, Larry Lampman, Pete Bicknell,
Travis Braun, and Tim Jones. (Heat Winners were Todd Gordon, Ricky
Richner,
Fred Carleton)
In the Brian's Tire Repair Streetstock Division it was Mr. B.S, Brad
Sheehan
back on victory lane. Sheehan started in the 2nd position right beside
Bill
Bleich Jr, and took the lead on lap 3 and managed to stay there the
entire
20 lap event with heat coming from every which way at him. While the M1
was
up front, behind him were some of the toughest competitors breathing
down
his neck. The 1J of Jason Fontaine, 88 of Shayne Pierce, 117 of Rick
Beales
and the 48H of Bill Hogue were all waiting for him to bobble just a
bit.
While the 1J and the 117 were too busy battling each other for the s2nd
spot, it allowed Bill Hogue to sneak up and pass both cars sending the
two
of them to battle for 3rd. Rounding of the fight was the top 5 spot
between
2 of Al Sleight and 777 of Cody McPherson. Top 5 were Brad Sheehan,
Bill
Hogue, Rick Beales, Jason Fontaine, and Cody McPherson. (Heat Winners
were
Brad Sheehan and Jason Fontaine
It seemed like a tug of war of happening in the Niagara Auto Sales Pro
4
Truck Division, the tug of war was between Kevin Aube and Andy
Imbeault.
Aube and Imbeault battled for the top spot most of the 15 lap race. But
the
battle did not end with them, while they were deciding who would go to
second; there was a 3 way fight for the 3rd place spot between K51 of
Ed
McNamara, 29 of Doug Banner and 64 of Don Lessard. Aube would
eventually
pass Imbeault on the inside and looked like he was going to be doing
his
signature moves on victory lane (back flip), but on lap 14 Aube broke
his
throttle cable and had to pull into the in field, giving the win to
Imbeault, who gladly walked away with his first win the truck division.
Top
5 were Andy Imbeault, Rick Book, Don Lessard, Doug Banner, and Ed
McNamara.
((Heat Winners were Tyler Grove and Kevin Aube)
In the Ministock division it was the second win the 2008 season for
Garnet
Wilson in his 71 car, Wilson who took the lead from the 17 of Chris
Laskey
on lap sending Laskey to 2nd to fight with the 7w of Aaron Wiley and
just
behind them was the 5 of Carey Gore with the 10S of James Small right
behind
him. Small who had to work his way back thru the field started in the
4th
place spot right behind Katie Cosco, but was involved in a caution with
Cosco on lap 2, this caution seen them both start back up at the tail
end of
the field. Matt Deschamps in the 43 having a good run ending up in the
top
5. Top 5 were Garnet Wilson, Aaron Wiley, Chris Laskey, James Small,
Carey
Gore and Matt Deschamps. (Heat Winners were Matt Deschamps and Garnet
Wilson)
The 8 of Sam Iftody was the winner in the Weekend Warrior Purestock
division. Iftody lead the race from green to checkered in the 12 lap
event.
Iftody may have won this match up, but the 8 of Mike Greene was not
handing
it to him on a silver platter, Greene gave him a run for his money.
While
the 16B of Brad "The Hammer" Booker had some catching up to do as he
was
involved in a caution earlier on in the race and managed to work his
way up
to a 3rd place finish. Top 5 were Sam Iftody, Mike Greene, Brad Booker,
92-?
and Rob Goulden. (Heat Winners were Sam Iftody)
For the first time in the 2008 season, the crowd was privy to the
ever popular bus race. "Tricky" Nicky Dama led for the first 4 laps,
until
Mike "The Flipper" Journeaux flipped him back to 2nd place. Journeaux
managed to keep the lead and take the checkered flag. Pit Steward Tom
Beales
and Sportsman driver Darren Peters also took the green flag.
