Herrington Motorsports: Weekend Report, June 20th & 21st

Racing – just like life – has its ups and downs. There’ll be good nights and there will be bad ones. Bobby Herrington has had some strong finishes Friday nights at Autodrome Edelweiss (near Ottawa, Ontario) but he hasn’t faired as well at his Saturday night home at Brockville Ontario Speedway. Friday, June 20th, he recorded another 2nd place finish in his qualifying heat and was 7th in the night’s main event for DIRTcar 358 modifieds. With other area tracks falling victim to rain, the field at Edelweiss was bolstered by Alain Boisvert who was looking for a place to race. With the 2007 Cornwall Motor Speedway track champion parked right next door, the Herrington Motorsports crew talked about the set-up on their car with the Boisvert team. They learned the cars were quite similar and perhaps some of their rougher nights could be best described as just bad racing luck.
Saturday, June 21st, the Stover Bus Lines/Old Forester/Kingston Paint & Decorating/Corcoran Excavating/Independent Insurance & Investment Group-Marty Stover team signed-in at Brockville Ontario Speedway with the hopes of turning around a season that can best be described as frustrating. After finishing 2nd in their heat race, the team took the time to change the right-side rear bars and the right-front shock on their 2008 Bicknell. As a result of his early season finishes, Herrington started the night’s 30 lap feature from the pole. That allowed him to miss the opening lap crash involving 4 cars, including 2-time defending track champion Danny O’Brien. The #25 was off the pace and Bobby began dropping-back through the field. On lap 27, he clipped a tire barrier as he exited turn 4 and needed to be towed from the track. Herrington was credited with an 11th place finish.
