First career win for Bryan Bohlke at Williams Grove

FIRST CAREER WIN FOR RYAN BOHLKE AT WILLIAMS GROVE
MECHANICSBURG, PA ? Ryan Bohlke scored his first career sprint car victory Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway and Pat Cannon won the 20-lap feature in the 358 division.
Bob Bennett led the first lap of the sprint car feature before Josh Wells took over.
Bohlke, who started fourth, moved into second place on lap three and began to chase the leader.
Bohlke used an outside move off turn four on the seventh circuit to take the lead from Wells. Once in front he began to drive away from the field.
While Bohlke was checking out, a tremendous battle developed for second between Don Kreitz, Chad Layton and Brian Montieth.
A yellow flag with 17 laps complete wiped out Bohlke?s lead, which had grown to a full straightaway.
On the restart Kreitz found some speed and mounted a serious challenge for the lead. Kreitz began to work his familiar inside groove while Bohlke stayed glued to the outside cushion. Bohlke eventually got away from Kreitz and had a 2.867 cushion at the finish.
Bohlke, 23, of Fredon, N. J. earned $3000 for his first victory after three years of trying.
Kreitz settled for second in his best effort of the season and Layton finished third.
Alan Krimes took fourth from Montieth on the final lap. Fred Rahmer was sixth and maintained his lead in the Cindy Rowe Auto Glass point standings. Wells, Todd Shaffer and Niki Young finished in positions seven through ten respectively.
Bohlke became the eleventh different winner in thirteen races in the Grove?s sprint car division this season.
Heats for the 28 sprint cars in competition were won by Young, Steve Buckwalter and Bohlke.
Brian Paulus won the consolation race.
Pat Cannon started 12th in the 358 feature and took the lead from Tony Smolenyak on the fourth lap, then cruised to his fourth victory of the season.
Eric Tomecek, Dave Calaman, Scott Geesey and Smolenyak completed the top five.
Chad Trout earned the Bass Pro Shops Hard Charger award.
Smolenyak, Stewart Smith, Mark Freeland and Cannon won heats for the 36 limited sprint cars in the pit area.
The consolation race went to Chad Trout.
Williams Grove Speedway will present the Mitch Smith Memorial for sprint cars on July 4.
