RACING RAINED OUT FOR 7TH TIME AT MERCER SATURDAY; FIREWORKS
RESCHEDULED TO AUGUST 16; FREE BUTLER COUNTY NIGHT TO AUGUST 23;
PRACTICE NIGHT WEDNESDAY

Racing action scheduled for Saturday night, June 28 at
Mercer Raceway Park has been cancelled for the seventh time this
season due to rain and the 70% forecast of additional rain throughout
the afternoon and evening. The fireworks presented by Walt's of
Mercer Plaza has been moved to August 16 and the Free Butler County
Night presented by McClymonds Supply & Transit to August 23.
"This has been a very frustrating year with Mother Nature," stated
10th year owner Vicki Emig. "This was our 14th scheduled race
event. We've lost half of them due to rain and the other seven were
all affected by weather. Three of those seven times we've had race
teams and fans at the track when we've had to cancel so with the
morning rain today and the forecast we just felt it was best to make
the call early."
Mercer Raceway Park will also host its fourth practice of the year
this Wednesday, July 2. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with practice from
5 p.m. until dark. Pit passes are $20. The rain date is Thursday,
July 3.
Action will hopefully resume next Friday night, July 5 with the
inaugural "Small Car National Open" presented by Truk Rodz by Jones
Performance. Along with the "KABOOM 150" Enduro paying $1,000 to-win
a full night of racing will be on tap for the STAR's Championship
Tour Mod Lites, INEX Legend Cars in a National Touring Event, Micro
Sprints, and Mini Stocks. Racing begins early at 6 p.m. Adult
admission is only $7, families $18, and students 6-15 just $3. Rain
date is Saturday & Sunday, July 5-6.
Mercer Raceway Park is located minutes from both Interstate 79 and 80
just off Route 19 on Fairground Road in Mercer, Pa. Dirt track racing
and quality family entertainment are presented weekly late March
through September. The office in New Bedford, Pa. is open year-round
Monday through Friday after 1 p.m. For more information call the
