Williams Grove Saturday Night Show Rained Out

The Saturday night racing at Williams Grove Speedway was cancelled due to thunderstorms that rolled through the midstate region. The rain arrived as the first super sportsman consolation race was on the half-mile speedway. After a twenty minute wait the decision was made to cancel the remainder of the event.



When the Saturday Night Series returns to Williams Grove Speedway on July 12, the remainder of the Sutliff Auto Group super sportsman show will be finished. The super sportsman have two consolation races, plus their 20-lap main event. Also, the L.B. Smith Ford street stocks will complete their remaining qualifying race and 15-lap feature.



Upon completion of the super sportsman and street stock racing, the scheduled show of July 12 featuring the super sportsman, 358 late models, street stocks and four-cylinders will be staged. The enduro race scheduled for July 12 is cancelled.



The AJ’s Truck and Trailer Center 358 late models and the Credit Connection four-cylinders will run the completion of their shows on July 26. The 358 late models will finish their consolation race and the feature. The four-cylinders will run just a feature.



The scheduled show for July 26 will also be held featuring the super sportsman, 358 late models, street stocks and four cylinders.



Before the thunderstorms struck the speedway, Mike Walls, Craig Wagaman and Roy Miller won the heat races for the 26-car 358 late model field. The super sportsman heats went to Aaron Eichelberger, David Socks III, Paul Miller and Dylan Cisney. 36 super sportsman were signed into the pit area. The first street stock qualifier for the 20-car field went to Rodney Clouser.



In the first super sportsman heat race veteran driver Lanny Hake was transported to Hershey Medical Center after a first turn crash. Hake’s car went over the tire of another competitor. His No. 91 flipped over the first turn fencing and landed on a dirt access road. Hake was talking to emergency crewmembers. The driver from Dover was transported to the hospital to be treated for a possible shoulder injury.
