Thunder Mountain Speedway Results from June 27, 2008

P.J. Goodwin passed early race leader Bret Welch on the 13th lap and went on to win his second Sportsmen Modified feature of the season at Thunder Mountain Speedway. Welch started on the pole and jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green. Welch maintained his advantage through the first 11 laps when a caution for the slowing Jim LaRock closed the field for the restart.
Welch again jumped to the point but this time Goodwin was able to slip by on the 13th circuit and went on to take the checkers. Welch finished second with Larry Hillis third, Gary Card Jr., fourth and Eddie White fifth.
Tom Eiklor continued his hot streak by winning his third consecutive IMCA Modified feature. Tyler Stoddard and Brad Weaver brought the field to the green with Weaver taking control of the early stages of the race. By lap 7 Sean Lias had worked his way up to Weaver's back bumper and slipped into the lead on the 8th circuit. Lias' lead was not to be long-lived as one lap later Eiklor got by Jerry Lobdell for second and set is sites on the Lias machine.
On lap 11 Eiklor got under Lias and drove into the lead. with the remaining laps running under green, Eiklor was able to open up a full straight away lead in taking the win. Lias finished second with Dave Barrows third, Jerry Lobdell fourth and Jeremy Shaw fifth.
Erick Rudolph made quick work of the NYMM main event taking the early lead and never being challenged through race. The race was slowed by only two cautions for minor incidents. With Rudolph starting on the pole and Dalton Herrick on the outside for the start of the race Rudolph was gone right from the start. Herrick was able to maintain second place until the leaders got into lapped traffic on lap 14 when Pat Jordan moved past the 36 for second.
Jordan lost two spots on lap 18 when Ryan Jordan and Ron Gamble dropped him back to fourth. At the finish it was Rudolph with the win, Nick Cooper second, Ryan Jordan third, Pat Jordan fourth, Ron Gamble fifth.
Mike Morse and Bill Rampe paced the field for the start of the Hurricane Street Stock feature. Rampe was the early leader until Kurt Decker moved to the point. At the halfway point Decker was the leader with K.J. Yager in second, Rampe in third and Jerry Lobdell fourth. Lobdell was on the move picking off Rampe and Yager in successive laps putting him in second.
For the next four laps Yager and Lobdell swapped second place until Yager settled into the spot. With two laps to go,. Decker was unable to protect the bottom and Yager got by and went on to take his first Thunder Mountain Hurricane Street Stock feature win of the 2008 season. Kurt Decker finished second with Lobdell, third, Rampe fourth and Mike Morse fifth.
Jake Fowlston took the lead from D.J. Pender on the second lap and cruised to the Road Warrior feature win. Dan Menard took second with Pender finishing third, Jessy Velez fourth and Nick Stark crossed the line fifth.
Wayne Ross jumped out to the lead at the start of the Road Bandit main event. Ross held the lead until Nick Griest slipped into the top spot on lap 7. Griest's lead was short lived as Griest's car caught fire on the front stretch bringing out a red flag condition while track workers extinguished the blaze.
This put Jeremie Hale Sr. at the point. with the race just past halfway. Ross was sitting in second with Bobby Edwards in third. Edwards got by the fading Ross and went after Hale. But Hale held on to take his first Thunder Mountain feature win. Edwards finished second, Ross third, Ray Oakley crossed the line fourth with Nick Alexander fifth.
