MRP Hosts Scout Night
It was Scout night at Moler Raceway Park, with all branches of scouts honored. And kids in attendence took part in the bike races on the front stretch.

The night started out with the Sunesis Construction Late Models getting their 1 lap of Qualifications in with Josh Tidwell of Batavia, Ohio driving the JMC, Deltec #8 entry taking top honors with a 12.620 lap.

Before the racing began the Cub Scout Promise was lead by Shane Elliott of Belfast Pack 73. After which Elliott was presented with a hero award from modified driver Doug Adkins for his bravery a few weeks back while on a scout outing.

In Sunesis Construction Late Model Division, the heats was won by Josh Tidwell and Dillon Huron.
At the drop of the green in the 25 lap a-main Bill Williams of Sardinia, Ohio took the lead in the Angilos Pizza, B&M Wrecker Service #17B Machine and didn’t look back leading the entire race. A late challenge from 2007 track champion John Whitney was not enough to stop Williams from taking his first 2008 victory at M.R.P. Coming home third was heat winner Dillon Huron. Barry Doss who was forced to tag the tail of the a-main in a back up car after mechanical problems in his primary car finished a strong fourth.

In the UMP Modifieds, after winning his heat, West Portsmouth’s Doug Adkins finally got the monkey off his back and took home his second feature win holding off heat winner Ray Branscum of Walton, Ky. Rounding the top five were Rick Jones, Bruce Gould III and Jim Hilligas.

In the Chevette class , Miles Tarvin continues to dominate scoring his 5th win in a row followed by Kevin Riggs and Les Romano.

In the Phantom Firework Pure Stock division, a new driver added his name to the growing first time winners list of MRP. Tim Carpenter of Batavia, Ohio held off Derrick Davis to win his first MRP win in the Crosstown Services #12D.

On their third visit to MRP, the Wills family seem to have a hold on the ¼ mile in the 600cc Wing Mini-Sprints. After the eldest son Kevin won the May 26th race. The youngest son Todd Wills of Chillicothe, Ohio held of his father Herschel to win his first MRP feature, coming home third was Gary Loney, Todd Keen fourth and Chris Smalley fifth.

MRP will be back in action next week July 5th featuring The 2nd Annual Phantom Fireworks Big Bang 50. On the card will be the first visit from the Independent Late Model Series paying $5000 to win, UMP Modifieds, Phantom Fireworks Pure Stocks and the MRP Chevettes. Gates open at 4:30, Hot Laps 7:00, Racing at 8:00.
