FOCUSES AT GRUNDY COUNTY, LAS VEGAS & SALT LAKE CITY;
WINS GO TO LANGLOIS, COTTONGIM, DAILY & WHITTEN
Morris, Ill., Las Vegas, Nev. and Salt Lake City, Utah all host USAC Ford Focus action this Independence Day weekend. The USAC/UMARA series continues Sunday night at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, while the California Paved and Utah Developmental Series combine Thursday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Bullring and the Utah series continues Saturday at Rocky Mountain Raceways in the Utah capital.
Brendan Langlois of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada won Saturday night’s 30-lap California Pavement feature at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy, Calif., beating Mike Maier, Ian Miille, Jeff Oleen and series point leader Justin Hommel. Langlois led he final four laps in his Ron Sutton’s Winners Circle machine after Jessica Brunelli had paced the first 26 laps.
Tyler Cottongim of Avon, Ind. won Wednesday night’s 30-lap Indiana Ford Focus Feature in his O’Kelly’s Restaurant Equipment Stealth at Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. He led 17 of the 30 laps, including the final five, to beat Alison MacLeod, Eric Fehrman, series point leader Kyle Hamilton and Andy Nock. The Indiana series resumes July 9 at Anderson.
Marc Daily of Fairmount, Ind. led all 40 laps to score his first USAC feature win in Wednesday’s 40-lap Carolina Series main event at Concord (N.C.) Motorsports Park. His Rick Fedrizzi machine was followed by series point leader Michael Mohelski, Bradley Riethmeyer, Fedrizzi and Shane MacMillan. The next Carolina race is July 9 at Concord.
Tanner Whitten of Carlock, Ill. led the last 10 laps of Saturday’s 15-lap USAC/UMARA feature at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. Nick Grommes took second ahead of Branden Allen, Tony Devea, who led the first five laps, and series point leader Brad Greenup.
