Two Big Nights of Racing at SSP This Independence Holiday Weekend on Thursday and Saturday Nights
Newberrytown, PA (July 1, 2008) Racing returns to the Susquehanna Speedway Park for a special midweek show on Thursday, July 3 with the Eichelberger’s U-Pull It Super Show III featuring the ARDC Midgets, 600cc Micro Sprints, Legends Cars and Women on Wheels Stock Cars. The 600cc Micro Sprints portion is part of the 2nd Annual PA 600cc Sprint Car Speedweek with entries expected from all over the United States .
Stock Car Saturday Night racing action returns on July 5, with the 3rd Annual Summer Fun Championships featuring a 30-lap feature event for the Late Models paying $1,200-to-win. Also, the Street Stocks ($500-to-win), Xtreme Stock Cars ($400-to-win) and Four Cylinder Stock Cars ($400-to-win) will compete in 25-lap feature events.
On both Thursday and Saturday nights, the pit gates will open 4:30 p.m. Grandstand gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Qualifying races begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by consolation races and feature events.
General Admission Grandstand ticket prices for Thursday and Saturday Nights will be Adults (ages 18-59) $14.00; Young Adults (ages 11-17) & Senior Adults (60 & Older) $12.00; Children (10 & under) are free. Pit pass prices for everyone on Thursday night will be $20.00. Pit pass prices on Saturday night are $25.00 with a reduced price of $22.00 for all pit competitor license holders. The minimum age requirement to purchase a pit pass is 14 years of age with a copy of a birth certificate is required for all ages 14 to 17.
A special $4.00 repeat fan discount for each person with a ticket stub from June 28 races will be in place for this Thursday or Saturday’s events. Returning fans are encouraged to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into special drawings during and at the end of the season for great prizes. The Repeat Fan Discount is not valid for pit pass purchases.
At last weekend’s racing action at SSP on Saturday, June 28, for the fourth time this season, rains have forced the postponement of feature events after qualifying was completed. This is an unusual situation that was not encountered even once in the first four seasons that the Fishers have owned the speedway. The rain storm has forced the feature events of the following divisions to be completed on the following dates: Late Models (Saturday, August 9); Street Stocks (Saturday, August 23) and Xtreme Stock Cars (Saturday, August 16). “This season has been very trying on both the fans and race teams and we wish things would be different,” said Todd Fisher, “but we will do our best to get through all of the make-up features with the least amount of problems for the teams. This is why we have rescheduled them in August, so that teams can properly prepare for running two races in one night.”
Two makeup feature events from May 17 were completed with Manchester ’s Randy Christine Jr. winning his first career Late Model feature event over John Moser, Jr. and Bud Witmer. In the other make-up feature event, Chris Heller from Carlisle won his first Xtreme Stock Car race of the season. Matt Wampler and Sam Rial finished second and third respectively. Daryl Sipe won the 10-lap Mini Van feature presented by Susquehanna Recyclers.

Wednesday Night Test & Tune Up Next at SSP on July 23
The next Wednesday Night Test & Tune session will be on July 23. It is open to any type of racecars capable of competing on the 4/10 mile oval. The cost is $12.00 per person for pit passes and a $20.00 fee for each racecar entering the pit area ($32.00 per car & driver combination). Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with open track time from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. by class. The fuel pumps fro Miller’s Racing Parts will be open from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each session will be 6 – 8 laps per session. The grandstands are open free to the public. The main concession stand will also be open throughout the night. Each class will receive 4 to 5 rounds of 6/8 laps each or more if time permits.

The Outback Track at SSP Ready for 2008 Action
The final Open Practice Session for the SSP Outback Track is set for Saturday, July 5. At the second half of practice, the entrants will be grouped together for exhibition racing to begin determining class grouping and breakdown. Gearing the “Outback Track” to the youth, the inside is 1/10 mile for Quarter Midgets with the outer perimeter measuring 1/7 mile for both karts and Bandolero Cars. The turns are 75 feet wide with the straight approximately 50 feet in width.
The practice sessions will be open to all classes of karts and quarter midgets. The practice sessions will also be open to all ages of drivers. Classes for the Summer Race Season will be determined based on the participation at the Open Practice Sessions in June.
On Saturday, the pit gates will open 10:30 a.m. with a driver’s meeting at 11:45 a.m. Open practice begins at 12:00 p.m. and will conclude at 3:00 p.m.
Open Practice pit pass prices for the Outback Track will be $8.00 for everyone ages 8 & older; Children 7 years of age and under will be $2.00. Hand held infants are admitted free.
Everyone with a pit pass from the Open Practice at the Outback Track will receive the Repeat Fan Discount for that evening’s racing events.
