The Big-Block Modified line-up is already headed by the ‘Doctor,’ ‘A.J. Slideways,’ ‘Super Matt’ and the ‘Rocket.’ And that’s just in the pre-race festivities planned for Thursday, July 3 when Ransomville Speedway hosts round five of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series.
The grandstands midway at Ransomville will be buzzing during intermission as an all-star cast of drivers competing later that evening in the Advance Auto Parts Series showdown will be the main attraction on Thursday.
Even before the start of the featured ‘Firecracker 100’ presented by CWM Chemical Services and Pete Cosco Haulage Ltd., Danny Johnson, Alan Johnson, Matt Sheppard and Ryan Phelps will be participating in a special “Meet and Greet” Autograph Session behind the main grandstands following the traditional pre-race feature draw on the frontstretch.
Younger sibling Danny is the defending Advance Series race winner at Ransomville and a five-time DIRTcar Driver of the Year while all-time DIRTcar NorthEast Big-Block Modified feature winner Alan Johnson captured the century grind on the ridge in 2006. Sheppard won the lucrative 2008 Advance Series opener at Virginia Motor Speedway in May with young and talented touring pro Phelps the final of four second-generation standouts to fill out this elite group.
Ransomville pit gates are scheduled to unlock at 4 p.m. with hot laps slated for 6 o’clock. Heat race qualifiers take the first green flag immediately following Integra Shocks Modified Time Trials that begin at 6:45 p.m. Fireworks close out the special holiday program with main grandstands open for seating at 4:30 p.m.
