Bobby Varin Racing News Update

BOBBY VARIN RACING NEWS Sharon Springs, NY- Bobby Varin Racing News Updateby Steve Pados, GA Motorsports Media Bobby Varin Racing is enjoying another banner year in racing and at the current time Bobby Varins is enjoying a tie for first place in the Modified points battle with veteran star campaigner Pat Ward. Both will enter the next event at the Fonda Fairgrounds with identical markers of 416 points each. Ronnie Johnson sits behind the pair of driving stars with 380 points and is followed by Dave Camara with 364 points. Jack Johnson with 350 points completes the top five in the points chase. In the Go Green Modified points chase, Ward leads the way with 130 points and Varin is sitting in second with 122. Matt DeLorenzo currently sits in third with 120 points and Dave Camara is fourth with 118 points. Ronnie Johnson rounds out the top five with 116 points. In the last event at Fonda on June 21st, Bobby Varin was second in his heat event and started the feature from fifth starting spot. Pat Ward wasted no time in setting the early pace of the event as he raced out to a huge advantage early on. Varin was trapped behind Brett Hearn as both were using identical lines to march forward. After many laps of showing his nose under Hearn, Varin was able to make the pass into second palce and set sail for the high-flying Ward, who by the time had more than a half a lap track advantage. Varin was able to high-side the raceway to cut into lead that Ward enjoyed but ran out of laps in the caution free event. Ward took the win with Varin second, Ronnie Johnson was third, Dave Camara fourth and Matt DeLorenzo rounded out the top five. Last Sunday night at the Utica Rome Speedway, Bobby Varin had the capacity of running two feature events and both were almost carbon copies of each other. In the first feature event it was Pat Ward winning the feature with Mitch Gibbs finishing in the runner-up slot. Willy Decker was third and Bobby Varin finished fourth. John Ramsey completed the top five ruunning order. In the nitecap, it was Pat Ward winning for the second time that night as he outlasted Mitch Gibbs, Bobby Varin, Stewart Friesen and Alan Barker. The current points battle at Utica Rome finds the veteran Pat Ward leading the way with 471 points. Willy Deckers rides in second with 441 markers. Stewart Friesen is currently third with 417 points. Mitch Gibbs is sitting in fourth place in the points with 406 and Varin has rallied of late to move into fifth place in the points chase with 386 Danny Varin was cautious throughout the Modifed feature event. The Rookie Modified campaigner had a power steering unit go bad during the running of his heat event and amidst the smoky heat did not make the transfer necessitating for Danny to run one of consis to try to make into the main event. Starting from 7th place, Danny Varin was able to make the right moves and took the final transfer slot in the latter stages of the event. Danny Varin started the feature event from the 23rd starting position. The rookie drivng talent finished the event with an 18th place finish, Danny Varin currently rests in 18th position in the Modified points chase. This coming week the Varin family will return to the Fonda Speedway for the Saturday night racing action and Bobby will be again steering the Dave Cruickshank owned Dover Brake numbered 00. His son Danny will return to action aboard the Ed Monger owned Magarus sponsored numbered 93 as the youngster sets his sights on winning the Rookie of the Year honors at the speedway in the Modified division. Bobby also continues to steer the Dave Cruickshank owned Dover Brake Sponsored numbered 00 small block machine at Utica Rome. It is hoped the long awaited powerplant for the Chuck Tibbitts owned number-18 will soon be ready for the racing action at Utica Rome, giving Danny two nights of racing as well.
