The 4th of July at State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City saw a great fireworks display in the air and on the race track before a standing room crowd of 7,000 spectators.
Whit Gastineau started on the outside of row 8 and within two laps he had already raced his black and white sprint car to position 5. However, a caution on lap two relegated him back to the 14th position.
Once the green dropped again he was the car to watch. He pitched his car to the top side of the ultra quick 3/8 mile dirt track and he picked off car after car.
Gastineau took the lead on lap 11 from race leader Danny Smith and was never headed in the 20 lap A Main.
"I was kind of disappointed at the caution on lap two. I knew I had the fastest car out here and it was just a matter of time until I worked my way up front," said Gastineau.
This was Gastineau's third feature win in the last five weeks and put him just 200 points behind division leader Danny Jennings.
"This track is real fast and tonight we had the car dialed in," said Gastineau.

Other feature winners at State Fair Speedway were
Jeremy Allen who captured his fourth A Main win in the Factory Stock division. This win gave him the most wins of any driver in any class at State Fair Speedway.

The highly competitive and hotly contested Pro Stock Division saw a battle between the two best drivers in the division. Steve Smith and Mark Brill.
Smith was vying for his 99th career victory. He passed Brill for the top spot on lap 18. Brill returned the favor on lap 19 enroute to his third victory of the season.

The USA Modified once again it saw the defending champion Stanley Reed Jr utilize his expereince and patience to garner his third A Main checks of the season.
The race was lead for the first 17 laps behind rookie Modified driver Shawn Jorski. Reed caught him on the low side in turns one and two and raced to the the checkered flag.

The championship sprint division saw perennial front runner Loyd Clevenger outdistance his rivals enroute to his second A Main victory of the 2008 season.
Clevenger took the lead on lap 13 from race leader Terry Devaney and withstood two late race restarts to capture the vitcory.

The racing resumes at the the fast paced 3/8 mile dirt track at State Fair Speedway on July 11 with the Super Sprint, Champ Sprints, Factory Stocks, and Pro Stocks in action.
The racing begins promptly at 7:30 p.m.
