Support Trailer Debuts At Ransomville Advance Auto Super Series Stop
Weedsport, NY – July 7, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski , Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series PR Director
When the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series made its most recent stop at Ransomville Speedway on Thursday, July 3, competing race teams, track officials and members of the press corps covering the event were greeted for the first time by the Advance Series Support Trailer that is the newest addition to DIRTcar NorthEast’s premier traveling show.
“We were pleased with the initial results as it did everything we wanted it to the first time out,” noted Gary Spaid, DIRTcar NE Chief Handicapper and Computer Scoring Operations Director. “Display of the time trials and qualifying heat races came through almost perfect for everybody to see in the pits as they went off. We’ll continue to fine tune the system from week to week but right now its fully functional.”
Set to be stationed in the pit area at each Advance Series site, the re-skinned roller will now be the center piece for providing essential race information at every host speedway and conveniently serve as a backdrop for driver meetings and technical gatherings. Monitors attached to this custom mobile media unit will be in prime position to provide those who assemble around it with official timing and scoring results throughout the night.
“We’re excited to have a vehicle able to serve the racers and media along with all of our staff conducting Advance Series events,” said Cory Reed, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning. “We also plan to make hauls out to as many 358-Modified tour shows as the schedule allows and maintain it as the cornerstone of all our trackside activity the remainder of the season.”
“We’ll have a full array of monitors showing complete qualifying and race results in real time and supply plenty of material to allow the best coverage possible at every event. With ‘live’ timing and scoring available in the pits, the signal will be able to be picked up with those teams having a Wi-Fi connection. There will also be space reserved inside for laptops for anyone in need of meeting an early deadline. As the series goes on we plan to accommodate any requests that will help make the whole process run smoother when it comes to communicating with the media and race teams,” added Reed, as he prepared for the ‘Great Canadian Tour’ slated for July 10-13 in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec.
The Advance Auto Parts Series Support Trailer will no doubt become a focal point and gathering place in the pits as its fundamental purpose will be to provide media a controlled environment to do their jobs and racers and officials a place to convene each and every race night. DIRTcar staffers encourage all participants to take advantage of this new option when attending the remaining series events in 2008.
