PRIESTLEY WINS PERFORMANCE MANUFACTURING SLACK KARTS
50 LAP SPECIAL AT MERRITTVILLE: LUTZ & DMYTROW REPEAT
AS BURRIS TIRE WINNERS
For Immediate Release - July 7, 2008 - From Jim Irvine - Merrittville Public Relations - 905-892-8266
Thorold, Ontario (July 7) Performance Manufacturing and Slack Performance Karts presented the Burris Tire 50 Twenty Five at Merrittville Speedway July 6th and when the 50 lap Event for the Philbrick Farm & Garden Equipment Senior Medium Division took the checkered flag – Blake Priestley was the big winner – earning a $1025 payday.
Two drivers repeated their wins in last year’s event – Jake Lutz In the RCM Racing Equipment Cassell Manufacturing Junior 1 Division and Joshua Dmytrow in the KC Auto Parts Original Pizza Logs Novice 2 Division.
In Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2 action – James Moll came home the winner while Connor Mooradian earned the Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Heavy Animal Feature. The Superior PetroFuels Junior Restricted Heavy Flat Head Feature went to Matthew Farnham.
Through the Novice and Junior Features well over 100 laps were run caution free.
The Senior Medium Division once again qualified through a combination of time trials and heats with Chris Watson and Ron Spatorico the fastest drivers.
At the drop of the green for the 50 lap event, recent Tuesday Night Spring Series Co-champion Chris Watson was the early leader before Ron Spatorico took control just after a lap 2 restart. By lap 20 Spatorico led the field into lap traffic before the mandatory stop on lap 25 for fuel.
Spatorico resumed control when racing resumed with early leader Watson experiencing problems dropping out of second spot.
Blake Priestley then took over the runner-up but could not catch Spatorico in the closing laps – even with a caution on lap 49 setting up a one lap dash to the checkered flag.
Although Spatorico won the race on the track – he lost it in post race technical inspection and was disqualified. Two issues with his engine did not meet current WKA specifications – the throttle shaft as well as the lift on the intake and exhaust.
At the half-way break Aaron Barker opted to change tires – forcing him to restart at the rear of the field – but he charged through the field to take the runner-up spot.
David Janker also had a strong run to take third while Chris Lammerts and Frank Chadwick closed out the top 5. Bobby D’Ambrosio, Mike Janker, 82, Dale Cooley and Dillon MacPherson rounded out the top 10.
Jacob Lutz led all 25 laps of the RCM Racing Equipment Cassell Manufacturing Junior 1 Feature. .
Travis Majuery was second while Matthew Veihdeffer took third. Gregory Beckett and Mackenzie St. Jean rounded out the top 5.
The Ed MacPherson Construction Junior 2 Feature was won by James Moll who led the entire distance. Jordan Barnes and Brett Senek closed out the top 3. Dominic Hauck and Cody Kott rounded out the top 5.
The Junior Restricted Heavy 25 lap Animal Engine Feature saw Matthew Barker out front before Connor Mooradian took control just past half way.
Mooradian was followed by Ben Werth, Matthew Farnham, Isaac Pelissero and Barker.
The Junior Restricted Heavy Flat Head Engine drivers were run as a separate class and the 25 lap Feature was all Matthew Farnham. Timmy Kott, Kevin Daunce and Doug Gavette closed out the finish.
In the Drummond Home Hardware Garden City Auto Complex Novice 1 Feature, Joshua Hanson proved to be the only entry but enjoyed the laps he was given through-out the night.
In the second it was all Joshua Dmytrow who led the entire event from start to finish for the second straight year. Recent Novice 1 Graduate Taylor Gregoric took second while Dylan Davidson, Alex Riley and Gene Gregoric rounded out the top 5. Eric Veihdeffer, Steven Beckett, Court Turner and Caleb Vandervalk closed out the field.
